Volunteer Composition for Teams

Each team volunteer must be listed on the team roster in order to be covered by Hockey Canada's insurance policy.  The volunteer composition for each team should be no more than the following:
  • (1) Head Coach
  • (2) Assistant Coaches
  • (1) Trainer
  • (1) Manager
  • (1) On-ice helper - Applies to young 'helpers' only.
Note: If a volunteer is listed on another team roster, they are allowed to help out on-ice as they are already covered by insurance through their other team.

Kids as on-ice helpers:

In order for a young adult or child to help out on the ice, they must meet all of the following conditions:
  1. Be part of the association (SEMHA) (playing on another team)
  2. Be at least 1 division higher (eg. Under-11 (U11) can help out Under-9 (U9), but Under-9 (U9) A can not help out Under-9 (U9) B or C)
  3. Be wearing full equipment
