- If you are not receiving team emails please let one of the coaches know
- Please feel free to email the coaches at any time with questions or concerns, or talk to us at the rink
- If you know ahead of time that your child will be missing a game or practice, it is appreciated if you let the coaches know
Practices
- We expect practices to be every Saturday morning at Jim Durrell
- Practices will either be full-ice, usually combined with the Minor Novice Black 2 team, or half-ice on our own
- Please try to show up about 30 minutes before practice to allow your child to be fully dressed 10 minutes before the start of practice
- Each child should already have a red jersey to be worn for practices
- Make sure your child’s water bottle is put the team carrier
- Please ensure the water bottle is clearly labeled with your child’s name
- Please have your child stay in the dressing room after they are dressed
- 10 minutes before the start of practice we will ask parents to leave the dressing room so the coaches can go over the upcoming practice with the team and discuss any other issues
- Before practice starts we will proceed to the ice as a team
- Water breaks: the coaches will take the water bottles to benches and help the kids have a water break on the ice
Games
- We expect games to be every Sunday with start times between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM
- Occasionally the Sunday game time will be a half-ice practice instead of a game (due to an odd number of teams)
- Games will be played at either Dulude or Bernard-Grandmaître arenas
- All games are half-ice
- We will always be sharing a dressing room with another team
- We have been asked have players come dressed in all gear except their the skates, helmet and gloves (except for goalies)
- Please leave hockey bags in your car, and bring skates/helmet and gloves in a small bag that can be hung from the hooks in the room
- Given the congested dressing rooms, skate guards are highly recommended
- Please also ensure that your child’s stick has a large enough knob at the end to ensure that it can’t pass through a face guard.
- Make sure your child’s water bottle is put the team carrier
- Game jerseys will be handed out by the equipment manager before the game and collected again after the game
- We plan on having a team sign to put outside the dressing room door to help you find the correct dressing room
- Equal ice time for all players
Goalies
- Every player will have a chance to be goalie – we will rotate through the roster alphabetically by first name
- Players do not have play goalie if they do not wish to
- When it is a player’s turn to be goalie they will get the goalie equipment after the Sunday game, and use it for both the practice and game the following weekend
- You will still need to bring your child’s skates, pants, socks, helmet, mouth guard

Tournaments
- Most associations have not adopted 4-on-4 half-ice for Minor Novice, so there will be very few opportunities for tournaments this year, but based on interest the team managers can explore options
- There are also other non-tournament events which the team managers can explore (home-and-away games with out of town teams, extra ice time, team meals, etc.)
- Any tournaments/extra games/activities would be funded by parents, but are completely optional
Gender Identity and Expression
- Preferred gender pronouns (e.g. “he”, “she”, “they”)
- The Dressing Room Policy states that players, parents/guardians and staff/volunteers have the right to...
- Respect & equal treatment
- Protection from discrimination/harassment
- Define & express gender identity without fear
- Be referred to by self-identified name/pronoun
- Safely & equitably access gender-segregated spaces
- Be accommodated for code-related needs
- Privacy and confidentiality
- At the Atom level and below, mixed genders may change in the same room at the same time with the presence of two adults; however, coaches and parents should be aware of children who exhibit tendencies towards modesty and arrange for separate rooms where available
- Players make a request to the Minor Hockey Association that they would like an accommodation within the Dressing Room Policy
- If you have any questions or concerns please contact one of the coaches
